Kim Kardashian is reportedly in talks to star in a new live-action adaptation of the iconic Bratz fashion doll franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, with the script penned by rising screenwriters Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick.
The Bratz doll line, first launched in 2001, became a global phenomenon, selling more than 200 million dolls worldwide. Known for their bold fashion sense and attitude-filled personas, the characters gained a loyal following among young audiences.
A previous live-action Bratz film was released in 2007 but failed to make a mark at the box office. However, the brand has maintained cultural relevance, thanks to nostalgic appeal and a strong presence on social media. The upcoming film aims to reintroduce the beloved characters to a new generation, with a fresh take for today’s viewers.
Kardashian’s reported involvement is already drawing widespread attention. The reality star and business mogul has been expanding her presence in the entertainment industry. She recently featured in season 12 of American Horror Story and is currently filming All’s Fair, a legal drama series for Hulu, produced by Glee creator Ryan Murphy. She is also set to star in and produce The 5th Wheel, a Netflix comedy currently in development.
Writers Charlie Polinger and Lucy McKendrick are both enjoying rising profiles in the industry. Polinger made his writing and directing debut with The Plague, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. McKendrick, meanwhile, is slated to direct and star in the upcoming feature Fangs, alongside Toni Collette and Joel Edgerton.
With Kardashian’s star power and a revitalised creative team behind it, the new Bratz film could become a standout moment for the franchise and possibly avoid the missteps of its predecessor.
It is yet to confirm the film’s release date or full cast.
