Kirklees Council has been handed more than £12 million to help tackle the coronavirus emergency at a local level.
The money – totalling £12,227,930 – has been allocated as additional funding for local government and comes from a £1.6bn pot announced by Whitehall in March.
The money will assist councils like Kirklees in their responses to Covid-19 pressures.
Announcing the funding last month Robert Jenrick, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government said: “The work of local authorities to deliver social care and other vital public services has never been more important than it is now – and will be – in the days and weeks ahead.
“That’s why we’re giving local councils £1.6 billion of additional funding to spend where it’s needed most, to ensure they can meet the cost of the increased demand for social care, and continue to protect the most vulnerable people in society.”
