Former Love Island winner Jack Fincham has been sentenced to six weeks in prison after his dog, Elvis, attacked a runner and a woman, leading to his conviction for handling a dangerously out-of-control dog.

Fincham, 33, appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court after his Cane Corso, Elvis, mauled runner Robert Sudell in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022. A second attack took place in June 2024, when Elvis bit a woman in Grays, Essex, though she was not seriously injured. Fincham admitted to being in charge of the dog during both incidents.

The court heard that Fincham had violated a set of conditions placed on him following the first attack, which required him to keep Elvis on a lead, use a muzzle when the dog was outside, and not leave him alone with anyone under the age of 16. He had previously taken part in a dog ownership course after the first incident but failed to adhere to these rules, which contributed to the court’s decision to activate a suspended sentence from an earlier conviction.

The presiding magistrate, Anne Wade, stated that Fincham’s previous suspended sentence, resulting from a 2023 conviction for speeding while under the influence of cocaine, would be partially activated as a result of the violations. Fincham was also ordered to pay £3,680 in damages, which includes £200 in compensation for the injured runner and £50 for the second victim.

Fincham’s on-and-off girlfriend, The Only Way is Essex star Chloe Brockett, was seen in tears as he was taken to the cells, while Fincham gave a thumbs up in response to the ruling. Upon his release, Fincham will be required to set up a payment plan for the compensation fees.

This marks the latest in a string of legal troubles for Fincham, who has been arrested multiple times since his Love Island win in 2018, including for drink-driving and his 2023 cocaine-related conviction. Fincham has previously spoken about using his past mistakes as a wake-up call, noting that he joined Narcotics Anonymous to take responsibility for his actions.

Fincham is also facing criticism over his pet dog, Elvis, whose cropped ears were deemed illegal in the UK. The star revealed he imported the dog from Russia through Protection Dogs Worldwide, a controversial decision that has sparked backlash among fans.

Fincham, who won Love Island alongside Dani Dyer in 2018, had a brief and tumultuous relationship with the actress, splitting just four months after leaving the villa.
