Pakistani actress Mariyam Nafees, who is currently abroad during her pregnancy, has responded to critics questioning her decision to travel for childbirth. Some social media users suggested that her move abroad was motivated by the desire for her child to acquire foreign nationality.
Addressing the trolls head-on, Mariyam shared a candid response on Instagram. “So many of these? Our child will get foreign nationality no matter where she/he is born because of the father. Not everybody travels to get their baby the foreign nationality, and secondly, there’s absolutely no harm in it,” she wrote. “Given the current circumstances, you’d do it too if you could. Shut up and sit down.”
In a picture posted to her story, Mariyam is seen at the airport and on the plane, with a caption reading: “Be back soon InShaAllah.”
Additionally, she addressed concerns from her followers, particularly regarding the safety of travelling during pregnancy. Mariyam informed her audience that, “You can travel up to 28 weeks without your doctor’s ‘safe to travel’ certificate. After that, until 36 weeks, you need the certificate. Airlines’ rules also vary, so make sure to get the information before booking.”
Her direct response and informative posts highlight her confidence in her choices while navigating both personal and public life.
