After a seven-year hiatus, Pakistani superstar Mehwish Hayat is making a grand return to television, and if the first teaser of her new drama is anything to go by, it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

The Dil Lagi star, who was last seen in a Pakistani drama opposite Humayun Saeed, is set to headline 7th Sky Entertainment’s latest mega project, where she will be sharing the screen with Ahsan Khan and Hira Mani. Packed with love, secrets, and suspense, the drama promises to be an edge-of-your-seat thriller.

First look: A bloodied hand, a rose, and a whole lot of mystery

The production house unveiled the official teaser, sending fans into a frenzy. The caption teased:
“A story of love, secrets, and suspense! The iconic Mehwish Hayat makes her grand return to dramas with none other than the dashing Ahsan Khan along with Hira Mani, in 7th Sky Entertainment’s mega project! Coming soon only on Geo Entertainment!”

Directed by Siraj ul Haq and written by Fatima Faizan and Amber Azhar, the drama also boasts a stellar cast, including Usmaan Peerzada, Zainab Qayoom, Nayyer Ejaz, Sohail Sameer, Osama Tahir, Nida Mumtaz, Shamyl Khan, Afsheen Hayat, and Zohreh Amir. The powerhouse duo Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi are producing the project.

A hauntingly powerful comeback for Mehwish Hayat

The teaser wastes no time in setting the tone—it opens with an eerie shot of a bloodied hand, raised in desperation. The scene then shifts to Hayat’s entrance, a moment dripping in symbolism. Dressed in a bold red outfit, applying deep red lipstick, and holding a rose, she delivers an ominous line:
“My relationship with happiness is limited; I condition myself not to expect joy.”

The teaser quickly escalates. Ahsan Khan’s character, visibly enraged, confronts Hayat’s character in the past, saying: “I will punish you by never forgiving you.” The contrast is stark—Hayat, once in simple attire, is now transformed into a woman of chilling confidence.

“They are bound by their habits, and I am bound by mine. I have a habit of forgiving people,” she continues, adding layers to her enigmatic persona.

Then comes the climactic moment—a gunshot rings out, and while the shooter’s identity remains a mystery, a glimpse of a red sleeve suggests that Hayat’s character might be at the centre of it all. Shots of her wiping blood from her face and breaking into hysterical laughter only deepen the intrigue.

Perhaps the most visually arresting scene features Hayat delicately caressing her face with a rose—only to switch to a knife. The teaser closes with her walking away from Khan’s character, discarding the rose, leaving more questions than answers

Mehwish Hayat’s return to television has been met with massive excitement, and given her track record, expectations are sky-high. Her last drama, Dil Lagi, was both a critical and commercial hit, while her Hollywood debut in Ms. Marvel further cemented her status as an international star.

Fans have long been waiting for her return to Pakistani television, and with this new drama, she seems to be stepping into a role unlike any she has played before.

One thing is clear: If the teaser is this intense, we can only imagine what the full series will bring. Brace yourselves!
