Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur recently became the subject of online trolling after she unknowingly responded to a parody account of popular Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. The incident began when the fake account praised Mrunal’s performance in the Telugu film Sita Ramam, leading to a series of retweets and comments from Mrunal.

The parody account first tweeted:
“Everyone kept telling me to watch Sita Ramam, and OMG, I finally did! 🥹 What a beautiful film—every scene, every emotion, pure magic.
@mrunal0801, you’ve won my heart completely. Dulquer Salmaan was perfection as always. Can’t stop thinking about this masterpiece! ✨🎥 #MrunalThakur”

Mrunal, believing it to be the real Hania Amir, responded:
“Thank you so much @HaniaAamir___ ❤️❤️”

The parody account then posted another tweet:
“I may be emotional, but for me @mrunal0801 is the best actor of this generation. She is unparalleled. I don’t see any other actress so versatile like her in India.”

Mrunal quoted the tweet again, saying:
“Hania ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ you made my day. Thank you so much, my dear.”

The trolls arrive

It didn’t take long for users to notice the mix-up. Community Notes on X (formerly Twitter) flagged the account as fake, linking to Hania Aamir’s real but inactive profile. Trolls flooded Mrunal’s comments section with remarks:

“That’s not a real account, Mrunal. Kindly delete this and save us from embarrassment.”

“Aww, she’s so innocent, poor thing.”

“It’s okay, Mrunal, that you replied to this. You can’t keep checking everything with your schedule—though if you need someone else, I’m up for the job.”

“It’s not Hania’s real page 🤦🏻‍♀️! We are so desperate that we don’t even check authenticity.”

One user even offered to help:
“Hi Mrunal, I can help you build your Twitter a lot better than what your current team is doing.”

In response, Mrunal replied with good humour:
“Hahahahha, so sweet. I’m my team!”

The parody account later clarified in the comments, saying:
“I’m sorry there has been some confusion.”

Despite the trolling and clarification, Mrunal has not deleted her retweets of the parody account’s posts, continuing to embrace the situation with grace.
