Netflix has unveiled a new look at ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, confirming that the eagerly awaited film will open in select cinemas on 26 November before its global streaming debut on 12 December 2025.
Sharing the update on social media, the streamer teased: “not all secrets can stay buried. WAKE UP DEAD MAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY arrives December 12.”
Director Rian Johnson, who has helmed all three films in the franchise, also confirmed the theatrical release in the United States for Thanksgiving. “Wake Up Dead Man, the new Benoit Blanc mystery. Thanksgiving in theatres, 12/12 on Netflix. More to come very sooooooooooon,” he wrote.

The gothic-inspired poster spotlights Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc, returning to investigate his most dangerous case yet. He will be joined by an all-star cast including Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.
Written, directed, and co-produced by Johnson, the film marks the darkest chapter in the Benoit Blanc saga. According to Variety, the official synopsis reveals: “When young priest Jud Duplenticy is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, it’s clear that all is not well in the pews. After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.”
Earlier this year, a teaser trailer offered a glimpse of Craig’s detective investigating an “impossible crime” inside a church, setting the tone for what promises to be the franchise’s darkest and most chilling instalment yet.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ will premiere on Netflix on 12 December 2025.
