With the current closure of UK cinemas, UK citizens have had to watch the film world pass them by somewhat over the past few months. Most of the current contenders for the Oscars (or any of the big awards for that matter) are still awaiting release across the UK. There has now been confirmation that Carey Mulligan’s ‘Promising Young Woman’ is finally set to get a digital release on April 16.
A lot of buzz has recently developed around the thriller ever since it started receiving nominations at during this year’s award season. Carey Mulligan has taken home a Critics Choice Award for Best Actress for her performance and director and writer Emerald Fennell is up for several awards at this years’ Academy Awards.
Now, the UK will be able to tune in and get a glimpse of why the film has received all the hype of Sky Cinemas next month.
Promising Young Woman is a bold new vision. Mulligan plays Cassie a wickedly smart but singularly focused woman, who in order to overcome events from her past, lives a double life by night. Following an unexpected encounter, Cassie is given the chance to right the wrongs of the past. Joining Mulligan are Bo Burnham, Alison Brie, Jennifer Coolidge and Laverne Cox.
