Piers Morgan has stepped down from his role as presenter on Good Morning Britain following controversial comments made this morning in regards to the Duchess of Sussex.
The show recieved over 40,000 complaints earlier today (March 9) after Morgan stated he “didn’t believe a word” off what Meghan Markle had said during her interview with Oprah Winfrey. Many people took issue with the host and found that it was not Morgan’s place to dictate the validity of Markle’s comments about her own mental health.
ITV issued a statement saying, “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain. ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”
Morgan has been a host on the morning show for six years and has been involved in many controversies throughout his time with ITV.
