Priyanka Chopra, who arrived in Hyderabad on Thursday evening, is reportedly in the city for a grand announcement regarding RRR director SS Rajamouli’s much-anticipated film starring Mahesh Babu.
On Tuesday, Priyanka took to Instagram to share pictures from her visit to the Chilkur Balaji Temple, marking the start of what she called a “new chapter” in her life.
Dressed in a light blue salwar suit with a dupatta covering her head, Priyanka was seen conversing with the temple priest and walking through the premises accompanied by her team. Her post expressed gratitude and reverence, stating, “With the blessings of Shri Balaji, a new chapter begins. May we all find peace in our hearts and prosperity and abundance all around us. God’s grace is infinite.”
Priyanka also thanked Upasana Konidela, wife of actor Ram Charan, in the caption. In response, Upasana confirmed the actress’s involvement in a new film and extended her wishes. “Wishing you immense success on your new film. May Lord Venkateshwar bless you abundantly,” wrote Upasana.
While Priyanka has not officially confirmed her role in SS Rajamouli’s project, fans are eagerly anticipating an announcement. If the rumours hold true, this would mark Priyanka’s return to Telugu cinema after 23 years, her last film in the industry being the 2002 romantic drama Apuroopam.
The upcoming project, tentatively titled SSMMB29, has already begun filming. According to reports by Pinkvilla, Priyanka is expected to play the female lead. A source revealed, “The film is in the final stages of writing and is set to go on floors in April 2025. SS Rajamouli was seeking a female lead with a global presence, and who better than Priyanka to take on the role? Over the past six months, the filmmaker held multiple meetings with Priyanka, and everything has aligned perfectly.”
In addition to her potential collaboration with Rajamouli, Priyanka Chopra has a busy slate of international projects. She will star alongside Idris Elba and John Cena in Ilya Naishuller’s action-comedy Heads of State and is also set to appear in the action film The Bluff, sharing the screen with Karl Urban.
Fans are eagerly waiting for Priyanka’s official announcement, which would cement her return to Indian cinema in a major way.
