Pushpa 2 sees over 50% decline in fifth Thursday earnings, box office reports reveal

Pushpa 2: The Rise, a high-octane action film starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has enjoyed a spectacular run at the domestic box office since its release. However, the film saw a significant drop in its daily earnings on day 29, with a decline of over 50%.

In its first week, Pushpa 2 earned approximately £72.2 million, followed by around £26.2 million in its second week and roughly £12.9 million in its third week. The film continued its successful streak in its fourth week, around £870,000 on its fourth Friday, around £1.2 million on its fourth Saturday, approximately £1.5 million on its fourth Sunday, around £670,000 on its fourth Monday, roughly £760,000 on its fourth Tuesday, and around £1.3 million on its fourth Wednesday.

However, Pushpa 2 experienced a sharp decline of 61.51% in its daily collections on the fifth Thursday, with earnings dropping to approximately £500,000, bringing the total India collections in its fourth week to about £6.9 million. The film’s overall India box office earnings stand at ₹1,189.85 crore (roughly £117.2 million).

Breaking down the earnings further, the film’s Hindi version earned around £77.1 million, while the Telugu version made approximately £32.7 million. Pushpa 2’s Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions grossed about £5.7 million, roughly £1.4 million, and around £760,000, respectively. The Hindi shows recorded an overall theatrical occupancy of 12.99%, while the Telugu shows had an occupancy of 14.30% on 2 January, according to film trade portal Sacnilk.

On the global front, Pushpa 2 has accumulated approximately £172.2 million in its fourth week, according to film trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan. Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film is the second installment in the Pushpa series and follows the success of the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise.

The sequel follows a mafia boss struggling to keep his sandalwood business afloat amidst increasing police regulations. The film stars Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bhardwaj in pivotal roles.
