Asian sporting talent is really thriving right now, and in the case of local West Yorkshire fighters Shoaib Yusuf and Ismail Khan, there is only one way to go right now and that’s up! Shoaib, who mentors and trains as well as competing in action, recently took his impressive record to 6-0 by defeating Callum McDonald. This victory also propelled Shoaib towards becoming the interim featherweight champion in the process.
Yusuf trains at The Muscle Factory gym in Burnley under the watchful eye of Tariq Khan amongst others. Other notable Asian fighters currently on the local circuit include boxer Ismail Khan, who is now the holder of two belts (Northern Belt and England belt) after his impressive win.
The brothers of MMA fighter Junaid Cheema, Furqan and Saif Cheema are also excelling in their own right. Asian Sunday will be closely following the progress of these three fighters keep you up to date with the three brothers’ progress as well as that of Sri Lankan MMA fighter Tiran ‘Tornado’ Thakshala. Tiran, who is based in Los Angeles these days, is looking to overcome the as yet undefeated Hawaiian fighter Billy Takbuchi in his ongoing quest for MMA world title glory.
