The world mourns the loss of a true musical icon as the legendary singer, Pankaj Udhas, bids farewell after a courageous fight against illness. Best known for soul-stirring melodies like ‘Chitthi aayi hai’, Udhas breathed his last at the age of 72, as confirmed by his grieving family today.
“With profound sadness, we announce the untimely departure of the esteemed Padma Shri Pankaj Udhas on February 26, after a valiant struggle with illness,” expressed the Udhas family in a heartfelt statement.
Udhas, revered for his contributions to the Hindi film industry with unforgettable songs in classics such as “Naam,” “Saajan,” and “Mohra,” peacefully passed away around 11am at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital in India, according to sources close to the family. His mellifluous voice had graced audiences worldwide through mesmerising performances and numerous acclaimed albums.
The final rites to honour his memory are scheduled for Tuesday, as we bid adieu to a maestro whose music touched the hearts of millions.
