Makers of Pathaan, on 12 December, released the first song of the movie, Besharam and in just 24 hours, the song has clocked 21 million views on YouTube.
Coupled up with Spanish lyrics and beats of an African genre, the song, by Shilpa Rao, perfectly suits Deepika Padukone, as her character serenades Shah Rukh Khan.
The background beats in the beginning of the song, as claimed by reports in India, is erringly similar to ‘Makeba’ by Jain which released in 2015. If you do hear the songs side by side, the beats of the two songs do appear very close to each other.
Makeba was released in 2015, by French singer-songwriter Jain and this music was inspired by African music subgenre known as Amapiano.
Overall, the song has attempted to cumulate slow soothing vocals with fast paced and an up-beat background track, which does come out well.
However, the major takeaway from the song, is the oomph factor by King Khan and Deepika Padukone who set screens on fire in their hottest avatars. The chemistry between the two can be defined as phenomenal.
The music for Besharam is given by Vishal and Sheykhar, the lyrics is written by Kumaar, while the lead singer is Shilpa Rao
