Riddhima Kapoor Sahni has come to the defence of her brother, actor Ranbir Kapoor, after he was labelled a misogynist by social media users, particularly following comments about his wife, Alia Bhatt. In a recent interview, Riddhima addressed the ongoing scrutiny faced by the couple, stressing that neither of them is concerned about the public’s judgment.

The controversy reignited when a video surfaced of Alia talking about an incident in which Ranbir allegedly asked her to wipe off her lipstick. This moment, which some viewers deemed controlling, led to a wave of criticism, with Ranbir being accused of toxic and misogynistic behaviour. However, Riddhima, who is known for keeping a low profile, dismissed these claims, stating that the couple is unaffected by online chatter.

In an interview with Zoom, Riddhima shared, “They adore each other. They’ve created the most beautiful ever child, Raha. She is so so adorable. They are amazing parents. So, I don’t think they really care about what people say.” She emphasised that the couple is focused on their happiness and the love they share, rather than being troubled by negative opinions.

The accusations against Ranbir are not new, with the actor frequently being the subject of intense public scrutiny. Critics have labelled him unsupportive and dismissed him as misogynistic, despite his years of public relationships and marriage to Alia in April 2022. The couple welcomed their daughter Raha in November 2022, which has further fuelled attention around their personal lives.

Riddhima, who recently made her debut on the reality TV show Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives, further addressed the issue of online trolls. She dismissed the negativity, saying, “People have always been saying nasty things, negative things, but why let negativity get to you? You focus on all the positives.” She also made it clear that she and her family are used to criticism but prefer to focus on their private lives.

The Kapoor family, known for their high-profile status in Bollywood, has often been under the spotlight, with Riddhima herself having faced accusations of being a ‘nepo product’. She responded to these comments, saying, “I’m nothing like that. I’m a very simple girl. I love being at home with my family. I rarely go out; I barely socialise. I don’t even bother about trolls.”

Despite the constant public scrutiny, Riddhima’s comments suggest that the Kapoor family is determined to stay true to their personal lives and block out the noise. However, whether or not the backlash surrounding Ranbir and Alia will subside remains to be seen.
