Robert Pattinson has hinted that he might retire from acting after completing his role in The Batman trilogy. The actor, who has already made waves with his portrayal of the iconic superhero, shared his thoughts on the potential end of his career in a recent interview with The New York Times magazine.
Pattinson’s casting as Batman was met with initial scepticism from some fans, with many unsure whether he was the right fit for the role. However, his performance in the 2022 film, directed by Matt Reeves, was widely praised, and the film’s success led to plans for a trilogy, with the sequel expected to hit cinemas in 2026.

When asked about the future of his career, Pattinson revealed that the trilogy might mark the end of his time in Hollywood. “I could genuinely be retiring by the end of them,” he said. “Not in a million years did I think I’d still be doing this when I got my first job. I can’t believe this is still going.”
He also spoke about the discipline required to maintain a successful career in the entertainment industry, saying, “The main thing is constantly remembering what your job is. It’s a discipline to not use your energy on anything other than that.”
Pattinson has been acting for over a decade, starting at the age of 17 with his role in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), and quickly rising to fame with his portrayal of Edward Cullen in the Twilight saga. Since then, he has built a diverse career, starring in films such as Good Time, High Life, The Lighthouse, and Tenet.
His next project will be in Mickey 17, a science fiction film directed by Bong Joon-ho, the Oscar-winning director of Parasite. In the film, Pattinson plays an “expendable” member of a human expedition sent to colonise an ice planet, who refuses to let his replacement clone take his place. Warner Bros. has rescheduled the release of the film from 29 March, to 31 January, 2025.
While Pattinson’s potential retirement might come as a surprise to many, it seems the actor is contemplating a shift after more than a decade in the industry. Fans will no doubt be watching eagerly as The Batman sequel approaches, wondering whether Pattinson’s turn as the Caped Crusader will indeed be his final act in Hollywood.
