The sixth annual National Samosa Week is kicking off in Leicester next week, with a series of workshops designed to help people learn how to make this tasty triangular treat.
The annual culinary celebration begins on Easter Monday (10 April), at Hamilton’s Tesco store, in Maidenwell Avenue, (LE5 1BJ), where two samosa making workshops will be taking place.
The first session will be at 11am and the second at 3pm.
The sessions will be run in partnership with ‘Chilli Guys’ – a Leicester based business who will also be selling samosas on the day.
All proceeds will be given to the COPS Charity, which supports the families of police officers and staff who have lost their lives on duty.
“It’s great to be back for the sixth annual National Samosa Week, celebrating the tasty triangular snack we all know and love,” said Romail Gulzar, founder of the event, which runs from Monday 10 April to Sunday 16 April this year.
“This is an event which brings the community together, and one which has gained in popularity, and garnered international attention since we first set it up in 2018.
“Thank you to Hamilton’s Tesco store, and to Chilli Guys for jumping on board this year, to help us raise funds for such a worthy cause.”
On Tuesday 11 April, the taste-tastic fun continues, thanks to award winning Indian restaurant Chutney Ivy, situated in Halford Street, Leicester (LE1 1TR). The restaurant will also be hosting samosa making workshops from 1pm.
Owner Shaf Islam is delighted to be lending his support to National Samosa Week once more, after being involved since its inception.
“In 2018, we helped launch the event with a samosa making workshop at our restaurant in Leicester’s Cultural Quarter, and have been pleased to see its success over the years,” he said.
“We are proud to support an event which brings so much joy to the community, whilst celebrating the food we love, and helping such a worthwhile cause.”
