“Daya, darwaza tod do!” (Daya Break the door) – A line that defined an era of Indian television. And now, six years after bidding farewell, CID is storming back onto our screens with a second season!
The legendary crime thriller series, which ran for a staggering 20 years, is making its grand return, and this time, it’s also heading to Netflix. Fans can stream the first 18 episodes of Season 2 from 21 February, with fresh episodes dropping every Saturday and Sunday at 10 pm from 22 February. If you’re feeling nostalgic for the old-school TV experience, worry not – CID will continue airing on Sony Entertainment Television and streaming on Sony LIV.
If you thought you’d seen it all, brace yourself-because CID is back with a plot twist no one saw coming. Veteran actor Shivaji Satam, who has immortalised the role of ACP Pradyuman, has teased a shocking rift in the team:
“In this edition of the show, the unbreakable bond between Daya and Abhijeet is now fractured. They find themselves on opposite sides, shaking the very foundation of CID. ACP Pradyuman’s world is about to turn upside down. It feels surreal to step into this character again after six years. We promise a thrilling ride full of suspense and heart-stopping drama!”
Yes, you read that right-CID’s dynamic duo, Daya and Abhijeet, are at odds! After years of unwavering loyalty, what could have possibly driven them apart? Fans will have to tune in to uncover the mystery.
Launched on 21 January 1998, CID became more than just a TV show-it was a cultural phenomenon. Whether it was ACP Pradyuman’s instinct-driven investigations, Daya’s door-breaking heroics, or Abhijeet’s razor-sharp intellect, the show kept millions glued to their screens. Over the years, it crossed historic milestones-hitting 500 episodes in 2008, 1000 in 2013, and 1500 in 2018, before concluding on 27 October 2018.
Created by B.P. Singh and produced by Fireworks Production (Season 1) and Banijay Asia (Season 2), CID followed a formidable investigative team, led by ACP Pradyuman, alongside Sr. Inspector Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava), Sr. Inspector Daya (Dayanand Shetty), Inspector Fredricks (Dinesh Phadnis), and forensic expert Dr Salunkhe (Narendra Gupta).
Will ACP Pradyuman manage to restore order within his team? What dark forces have come between Daya and Abhijeet? And most importantly-will we hear the iconic “Daya, darwaza tod do!” once again?
