Prolific actor and voice of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones, has sadly passed away at 93 years old on 9 September 2024.
He was born in 1931 on a farm in Arkabutla, Mississippi, and was a father to narrator, Flynn Earl Jones, from his late wife and actress, Cecilia Hart.
The renowned actor was most widely known for his unmistakable baritone pitch, which could be recognised in major movie franchises such as Star Wars, The Lion King, and Coming to America.

His fellow Star Wars actor, Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in the franchise has since taken to X to express their condolences and respect by reposting the sad news accompanied by the caption “#RIP Dad” with a broken-heart emoji.
James’ career as an actor and voice-over artist, spans across 60 years, with an incredibly versatile portfolio of acting and voice credits, following his initial acting debut at The Cort Theatre in 1958 which has since been named the James Earl Jones theatre in 2022.
He was a four-time Tony Awards nominee as well as a recipient of many impressive awards across the film and television industry, including two Emmy’s, two Tony Awards, a Grammy, a Golden Globe, and the National Medal of Arts.

The actor will be sadly missed by those in the industry as well as fan across the world who have been following his work for some time.
He was considered one of the greatest on stage and on screen actors in the USA and worldwide and his legacy is sure to live on the many franchises and organisations that he was a part of.
