Axe-wielding larger than life heroes thor and Shamshera come together, as the release of Shamshera will meet Chris Hemsworth’s Thor: Love & Thunder in the theatres.
Marking Ranbir Kapoor’s return to the big screen after four years and will feature the Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani actor in the role of an axe-wielding hero.
Shamshera is a period action film which is helmed by Karan Malhotra and also stars Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor.
The story of Shamshera is set in the fictitious city of Kaza, where a warrior tribe is imprisoned, enslaved and tortured by a ruthless authoritarian general Shuddh Singh.
This is the story of a man who became a slave, a slave who became a leader and then a legend for his tribe. He relentlessly fights for his tribe’s freedom and dignity. His name is Shamshera.
The high-octane, adrenaline-pumping entertainer is set in the 1800s in the heartland of India. It has the big promise of a never seen before Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Shamshera in the film.
Sanjay Dutt plays Ranbir’s arch-enemy in this huge casting coup and his showdown with Ranbir will be something to watch out for as they will ferociously go after each other with no mercy.
The makers of Shamshera, are leaving no stone unturned to create a buzz for the movie, as the producers plan to bring the two most talked about axe-wielding “larger than life” films in theatres.
Rohan Malhotra, Vice President in Distribution, reveals, “Shamshera and Thor: Love & Thunder are two of the biggest event movies releasing this month. Both movies boast of larger than life, axe-wielding heroes who have got everyone talking.
“Exhibitors across India are charged by the audience reactions to Shamshera and there is a craze amongst movie buffs to catch this big screen spectacle on the biggest possible screen.”
He adds, “YRF wanted to present the trailer of the most anticipated Hindi film of the season in cinemas with a befitting film that has truly captured the imagination of fans and audiences. So, for us, it was a no brainer to devise a strategy where the trailer of Shamshera plays out when cine-goers go to watch the most anticipated English film of the season Thor Love & Thunder”.
Rohan further states, “Yash Raj Films is collaborating with leading exhibitors across India in this regard. We are hoping that the release weekend of Thor: Love & Thunder will see disruptive conversation amongst people as they will also get to see the new cinematic world of Shamshera created for the big screen by auteur Karan Malhotra.”
Ranbir, who is coming to the big screen four years after he delivered the blockbuster Sanju, is pitted against Sanjay Dutt who is playing an evil, merciless, cold-hearted brute force of nature, Shuddh Singh in Shamshera. Sanjay Dutt vs Ranbir Kapoor had made Shamshera a big screen entertainer to watch out for.
Directed by Karan Malhotra, this action extravaganza has been produced by Aditya Chopra and is set to release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on 22 July, 2022.
