The first trailer for Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Vakeel Saab’ is out and the actor’s justice lawyer takes no prisoners when it comes to making sure his case is taken seriously.
In the clip, we see as three girls are imprisoned for allegations of prostitution. However, the women claim that they were assaulted and that they are being framed for the charges. The women are fearful, and it seems like they will be deemed to be on the wrong side of the system, despite the false allegations against them.
However, in strides Kalyan’s lawyer, who is ready to defend the women no matter the cost. The trailer walks us through the intense trial and themes of misogyny are brought into question. At one point of the trailer, Kalyan asks the men on trial if they are a virgin. When the opposition objects, Kalyan steps in to state “You can ask the girls this question, but we cannot ask the boys?”
Whilst on the whole, the film appears to be an intense, and fast-paced film, thematically it tackles big issues of injustice, inequality and unlawful incapacitation. Alongside Kalyan, ‘Vakeel Saab’ stars Shruti Haasan, Anjali and Prakash Raj. The film has been directed and written by Venu Sriram and will release on April 9.
