Legendary veteran actor, Shakeel Ahmed, passed on 29 June at the age of 85 after suffering from a cardiac arrest.

The announcement was made by his family, who were with him during his last moments.

Born in 1938 in Bhopal, India, Shakeel migrated to Pakistan in 1952.  Popularly known as ‘Yusuf Kamal’, he gained fame after working in Radio Pakistan as a broadcaster.

His roles in dramas such as “Uncle Urfi” (1972), portraying Mehboob Ahmed in “Aangan Terha” (1984), and playing Taimoor Ahmad in “Ankahi” (1982) are still celebrated for their remarkable storylines.

Shakeel Ahmed received the Pride of Performance Award in 1992 for his contributions to the world of entertainment.

Many celebrities and prominent people have paid tribute to the late actor, calling him a ‘inspirational mentor’

Actor Behroze Sabzwari, Faisal Qureshi, and several others from the entertainment industry attended the funeral to offer prayers and express their condolences for the departed soul.

Former Sindh governor, Ishratul Ibad described Shakeel Ahmed as the “true legend” of the country.

Acting until his health began to deteriorate, Shakeel Ahmed made a remarkable impact to the Pakistani entertainment industry with endless great projects.
