The first half of this year has indeed been a difficult one for the government of Pakistan. With so many political rivalry and financial uncertainties taking place, it is no wonder that the state of the country is on the verge of political collapse.
Earlier this month, PTI Chairman, Imran Khan was arrested on the basis of corruption charges. That one incident was enough to shake the core of the country and to make people rebellious to the point of insanity.
Even though Imran Khan’s bail took place less than 24-hours after his arrest, the public were still enraged over the political situation of the country and feared for its state.
In the past week, many political leaders took the bold step of resigning from their respective positions under PTI’s leadership. Prominent ones being Shireen Mazari (Human Rights Minister) and Asad Umar (General Secretary). Over 20 political leaders have stepped down in the past seven days.
“I am leaving politics because of my children, family and health issues. My family and children are my priority,” Mazari said to a Pakistani news outlet.

Public seemingly protested that her statement was a coverup and real reason is to show solidarity to Imran Khan.
Asad Umar, however, presented a much different reason as to why he decided to quit. ‘I am outspoken, and I cannot issue personal statements if I hold an office’, he said in a press conference.

It is hard to anticipate what the real reason was, but it seems like Asad Umar does not feel safe being appointed as Secretary General, given the current state of country. Or how public likes to picture it.
Many political leaders are continuing to quit Khan’s party for numerous reasons. What could be the reason? Pity for Khan? Unsafety? Threat? It cannot be assumed but one can hope all ends well for the political situation of Pakistan.
