Bollywood actors Vikrant Massey and debutant Shanaya Kapoor have shared their thoughts on their upcoming romantic film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, set to release in cinemas on 11 July.
The film, presented by Zee Studios and Mini Films, marks Kapoor’s debut in the Hindi film industry and sees Massey take on a role that he describes as a refreshing return to the classic Bollywood romance.
Speaking ahead of the release, Shanaya Kapoor, who plays the character Saba, reflected on the personal connection she felt with her role.
“My role is very special. I am playing the role of Saba. I have learnt a lot from her,” she told ANI. “There’s a big difference between me and Saba, but sometimes you read a script and you’re not just portraying a character, you feel something more. Saba has a very distinct journey in the film. I connected deeply with that story. I’ve worked very hard on this, from the bottom of my heart, and I’m excited to see how the audience responds.”
Meanwhile, Vikrant Massey expressed his enthusiasm for the film’s nostalgic tone, which he says captures the essence of traditional Bollywood romance, a genre that has become increasingly rare in recent years.
“Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan is a very special film for both of us,” he said. “For me, it’s the first time I’m playing such a romantic role. It’s a classical Bollywood romantic film, the kind that we haven’t seen much of in recent years. This is our effort to bring back that old-school charm for today’s audience.”
The film is directed by Santosh Singh and written by Mansi Bagla, who also serves as producer alongside Varun Bagla and Open Window Films.
