Pamela Anderson Recalls Life-Threatening Plane Incident
Pamela Anderson has revealed a terrifying encounter on a flight where she was attacked due to a case of mistaken identity. The Baywatch star shared the ordeal during an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, recounting how a male passenger wrongly believed her to be a member of the country music group The Chicks, formerly known as The Dixie Chicks.
“This guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, what have I done?’” Anderson, 57, recalled. The situation escalated, prompting flight attendants to handcuff the man to his seat after he attempted to physically attack her.
Reflecting on the incident, Anderson explained, “He thought I was a Dixie Chick. Remember that whole Dixie Chick thing? Yeah, I almost got killed on a plane.”
While she didn’t specify when the event occurred, the controversy she referred to dates back to 2003, when the Chicks faced widespread backlash after lead singer Natalie Maines criticised then-President George W. Bush during a concert in London. The remark resulted in the group being blacklisted from country radio and enduring intense public criticism.
Anderson, who thankfully escaped the incident unscathed, admitted that the experience left her wary of flying for some time.
The Chicks have since moved past the scandal, experiencing a professional resurgence in 2020 with the release of Gaslighter, their first studio album in over 14 years. Despite critical acclaim, the album struggled to find favour within traditional country music circles.
Meanwhile, Pamela Anderson has made headlines for her acting career. She recently earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her role in The Last Showgirl, directed by Gia Coppola. The film follows Anderson as a Las Vegas performer grappling with financial uncertainty after her long-running show is abruptly cancelled.
Despite the frightening experience, Anderson’s resilience and continued success in her career shine through.
