Music maestro A. R. Rahman has revealed that he and his team enjoy Marvel films just like regular viewers, often immersing themselves in the experience from the back of the cinema. Speaking exclusively to IANS, the Oscar-winning composer said that, alongside listening to the franchise’s music, they also embrace the fun and critiques of a casual movie-goer.

“Sometimes we all go for Marvel movies, 20-30 people in the theatre and we sit at the back, enjoy popcorn, my whole team goes. Every 2-3 months, we go there,” Rahman said.

When asked about his favourite Marvel character, he explained: “No favourite, just to see what the sound is like.”

Discussing his approach to watching films, Rahman admitted that his creative mind inevitably analyses every detail. “It’s inevitable that you notice everything, creative mind, you notice what they are doing, how is the song panned or what are the scores, is it innovative, could it be better, you start criticising, like how people criticise my work,” he said.

The composer also reflected on his career pace and its impact on his personal life. After years of working tirelessly, he has now chosen to slow down and focus more on family and personal priorities. “Sometimes, you plan everything, and it cancels. Sometimes it’s beyond me. I go with the flow, like water. It takes the shape of the container. Even with work, it automatically gives. God had his way of giving me time,” Rahman explained.

He admitted that the relentless demands of his early career often made him miss out on personal experiences, underscoring the importance of balancing work and life.
