Acclaimed designer Anavila Misra has unveiled her latest collection, “ETE,” which takes inspiration from the intriguing blend of Tamil and French cultures. Known for her understated elegance, Misra presents a summer collection dominated by whites with the rose motif, “fleur d’amour” (flower of love) taking center stage.

“ETE” celebrates the cultural cross-pollination between Tamil heritage and French influences, as seen in the choice of fabrics and design elements. Linen, khadi silk, and khadi form the base of the collection, featuring flowing kaftans, jackets, and printed sarees.

The collection evokes the charm of Puducherry, a city with a rich colonial past. The imagery conjures scents of roses mingling with French coffee, grand colonial structures with open windows adorned with soft tapestries, and women engaged in conversation and intricate crochet work on verandas.

The rose motif itself is meticulously hand-painted and then carved into wooden blocks. This beautiful floral design adorns the collection in various forms, from blooming bouquets and climbing trellises to intricate latticework and individual placements.

Misra’s “ETE” collection offers a unique perspective on the confluence of cultures, presenting a fusion of traditional elements with a touch of modern summer elegance.
