Asif was called up for the second test but lost out to star spinner Yasir Shah for a starting berth. The off-spinner could still yet play in the test series as a third front -line spinner after the news  emerged that Pakistani seamer Imran Khan injured his hand in a training session.

Bilal Asif had his action independently tested in Chennai, India, all of his deliveries were found to be within the 15-degree elbow extension that the ICC permits.
