Zayn Malik on 4 February, unveiled details of his new studio album ‘Konnakol’.

Malik’s fifth album ‘Konnakol’ will be released on 17 April with the album’s lead record, ‘Die For Me’ arriving this Friday (6 February).

Malik also debuted some unreleased material at his recent Las Vegas run of shows, including new song, ‘Die For Me’. He also debuted four other unheard songs in the form of ‘Nusrat’, ‘Used To The Blues’, ‘Fatal’ and ‘Take Turns’ at the gigs.

Throughout the residency, fans could take part in a ‘Z5’ listening booth experience where they could hear snippets of his new material.

Speaking about the new album, the musician said: It’s that time again, I have been lucky enough to make a fifth studio album…‘Konnakol’ in its definition is the act of creating percussive sounds with one’s voice but what it means to me lies somewhere much deeper.

“It is a sound that holds the reverberation of a time before words existed. I have always drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first started making my own music – this album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who I am, where I come from and where I intend to go”, according to NME.

The new album is described in a press statement as a “pop-forward” album and the musician’s “most culturally inspired project to date.”

It continued: “The snow leopard, a profound symbol in South Asia, on the album art showcases how deeply his heritage has inspired the record.”

Malik released his fourth solo album, ‘Room Under The Stairs’, in 2024. Upon announcing his run of Vegas shows, a press release promised a “massive year” ahead for the singer in 2026.

Rajeev Khandelwal’s ‘Amar Vishwas’ trailer unveils gripping courtroom drama

0

The trailer for actor Rajeev Khandelwal’s upcoming courtroom drama ‘Amar Vishwas’ has been unveiled.

The series, based on the novels of writer Suhas Shirvalkar, revolves around a murder case that the media quickly labels as “open and shut.”

The one-minute-forty-eight-second trailer, unveiled on Wednesday, opens with the brutal murder of influential film producer Jessu Momin. Suspicion swiftly falls on Bahar Chakravarty, a young woman already condemned by public opinion. Enter Amar Vishwas (played by Khandelwal), an unconventional, sharp-witted lawyer who knows that the truth is rarely as simple as the facts suggest. As Amar takes on Bahar’s defence, he begins to peel back layers of exploitation, manipulation, and long-buried secrets.

Sharing his thoughts on playing Vishwas and what drew him to the role, Khandelwal, as per a release, said, “Amar Vishwas is far from a conventional courtroom hero. He’s flawed, instinctive, and driven by a deep sense of justice for those who don’t have a voice. What drew me to the role was the constant moral tension he lives with, where every truth uncovered comes with a price. The trailer only scratches the surface of the journey this character takes.”

Behl added, “Amar Vishwas takes its time with the story and doesn’t rely on quick answers. It lets the characters and situations unfold naturally, keeping the audience engaged as the layers of the case are revealed. This measured pace is what gives the narrative its depth and staying power. I am really excited for audiences to experience this story.”

It is created and produced by Arjun Singgh Baran and Kartk D. Nishandar. Along with Khandelwal, the cast includes Aamir Ali, Ravi Behl, and Barkha Bisht.

The series will stream for free on Amazon MX Player starting 11 February.

Taapsee Pannu fights for justice in Anubhav Sinha’s hard-hitting courtroom drama ‘Assi’

0

Before hitting the big screen on 20 February, the makers of Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu’s courtroom drama “Assi” have unveiled the gripping trailer of the film.

The preview introduces Taapsee as a relentless lawyer who refuses to bow down in her pursuit of justice, with Kani Kusruti handling the emotional end of the narrative.

The hard-hitting drama challenges the conscience, raising some uncomfortable yet crucial questions about morality, accountability, and the future we are shaping for the coming generations.

Shedding light on her next, Taapsee shared, “I felt it was time to bring these stories together and put them in front of people to remind ourselves that what we read as everyday crime news should never be normalised. These incidents are alarming, they’re happening around us, and they seem to be growing. Sometimes it’s not just about the crime itself, but also about how little we do to stop it in our own capacity. When we shaped this into a two-hour narrative, it became deeply moving for me as a performer, because it forces you to confront a reality we often look away from.”

Director Anubhav Sinha added, “For me, my film has to hit the core of the story. With ASSI, it felt like a loud thud exactly where it should. That impact compelled me to make this film. The story draws from everyday news, realities we often choose to ignore. To tell a story like this, Taapsee is a natural; you just take her there and she delivers her best. And with Bhushan Kumar backing a film like ASSI, we know we’re striking the nail in the right corner.”

Producer Bhushan Kumar went on to state, “At T-Series, we believe in backing meaningful, hard-hitting stories that need to be told. ASSI is a story that stayed with me from the moment I heard it, it reflects realities we see around us every day but often choose to look past. Anubhav has approached this film with immense honesty, and Taapsee has brought a rare sincerity and strength to her performance.”

Apart from Taapsee, the film features Kani Kusruti, Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub in key roles, along with special appearances by Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Pahwa.

Gulshan Kumar and T-Series present ASSI, a Benaras Mediaworks Production, backed by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha.
