With several films lined up for release in 2023 clash in inevitable. No matter how big you are an artist or what’s the studio backing you but clash of films at the box office remains a topic of discussion.

Come January 26, and the world will witness two films locking the horns including Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan and Rajkumar Snatoshi’s Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh.

The backgrounds of the two films are entirely different, so the creators can breathe a sigh of relief. Pathaan, on one hand, is a wholly commercial masala film, while Santoshi’s Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh is based on true events.

It’s vital that both films receive a same number of screens for their release, however given that Pathaan is a YRF production and Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback movie, it’s likely that Pathaan will have the most screens globally.

Well, Santoshi a splendid filmmaker is unperturbed by the clash and feels both the films have completely different genre.

At the trailer launch of Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh Santoshi said, “Shah Rukh Khan is a respected actor, and he has a huge fan base but people who are interested in the kind of film that we have made they will watch our film. Ours is not a song and dance kind of a film so I don’t get worried about such things.”

While Pathaan is a spy thriller starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham Gandhi Godse: Ek Yudh depicts the war of ideologies between Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse, set during 1947-1948. Both the films release on the Republic Day.

The audience eventually yearns for a movie with a stronger plot, and whomever fulfils their need wins the audience’s favour. The audience’s taste has evolved since the pandemic, making it increasingly difficult to design stories that live up to viewer expectations.

Twitter has been trending with calls to boycott Pathaan for some time, and we can only hope that this ludicrous trend won’t hamper the movie. Meanwhile, Gandhi Godse, that has already captured everyone’s interest gets its deserved credit.
