Game Changer, the highly anticipated political thriller directed by S. Shankar, is set to release in January 2025 after a long wait of over three years. The teaser for the film was finally unveiled during a special event in Lucknow, which was attended by lead stars Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, alongside director Shankar and producer Dil Raju.
In this film, Ram Charan takes on the role of an IAS officer who transitions from a student preparing for UPSC exams to an action hero tackling corrupt politicians. The teaser, lasting just over a minute, showcases Ram Charan in both academic and action-packed scenarios, giving a glimpse of his character’s unpredictable nature, as he states, “I am unpredictable.” Kiara Advani also makes an appearance in the teaser, although her character remains a mystery for now.
Prior to the teaser’s release, Ram Charan and Kiara were spotted at Lucknow airport, where the actor made headlines for going barefoot to the event. There were also song releases from the film earlier, creating further buzz among fans.
The film’s development was first reported in 2021, with rumours swirling about Shankar and Ram Charan’s collaboration. Officially announced in March 2023, Game Changer marks the reunion of the two stars after a long delay. The project faced multiple setbacks, with Shankar focusing on Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 and Ram Charan taking a break to promote RRR globally. Kiara Advani also took time off for her marriage to actor Siddharth Malhotra in 2022. There were even speculations about the film being shelved, with some critics claiming Shankar prioritised Indian 2 over Game Changer.
However, the political masala film is now confirmed for its theatrical release on 10 January 2025. Set against the backdrop of electoral corruption, Game Changer will follow the story of an IAS officer who strives to bring fair elections to India, fighting against powerful politicians. The film has a massive budget, reportedly over £20 million, and is expected to be a major box-office contender.
On social media, fans have expressed their excitement, with some calling the film “unpredictable” and others praising it as a “massive” spectacle. The buzz continues to build as the release date draws closer.
