Maura Higgins’ unexpected exit from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! has left viewers in shock, with many expressing their outrage over the double eviction that took place just days before the highly anticipated finale.

The camp, which had eight celebrities remaining, saw two eliminations on Thursday evening. Unfortunately for Maura, she was among those voted out, alongside boxing champion Barry McGuigan. Fans were devastated by her departure, with many taking to social media to voice their disbelief.

“Jesus Christ (sorry Father), how is Maura not in the final 4?!?! #ImACeleb,” tweeted one frustrated viewer, while another added, “I’m actually raging and also surprised that Maura has been voted out of #ImACeleb …she was really starting to grow on me.” Many others shared similar sentiments, calling her exit an injustice. “#ImACeleb gutted that Maura is gone. She made the show for me. I won’t be tuning into it after tonight. Was only watching for her,” one user lamented.

Fans were particularly upset about missing out on the iconic Cyclone challenge, with several posting their disappointment at Maura’s elimination before she could participate. “How has Maura been voted out of the jungle? I was certain she’d be in the final. Absolutely robbed of seeing her doing the cyclone,” said one viewer. “The British public can’t be trusted to vote for anything,” another commented.

In their exit interviews, both Barry and Maura reflected on their time in the jungle. Barry, who was gutted to miss out on the Cyclone challenge, admitted that the experience was far tougher than he had anticipated, especially the lack of food. He also spoke fondly of his bond with fellow campmate Danny Jones, calling him “such a lovely, great guy,” and predicted Danny would go on to win the show.

Maura, who had entered the camp later than the other contestants, was also emotional about her time on the show. “I didn’t expect to embrace it as much as I did, but I loved every single second,” she told hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. “I’m much stronger than I ever thought.” Reflecting on her time with the other campmates, she said, “Everyone was so welcoming, and it was like a proper unit. There were no arguments, ever, which was wild!”

Despite her exit, Maura’s impact on the show was undeniable, with many fans declaring that her absence will leave a void in the remaining days of the competition.
