Fans have been awaiting the anthem for the upcoming 2023 Cricket World Cup for quite a while now. The wait was finally over, after ICC officially released the anthem titled, “Dil Jashn Bole”, starring Ranveer Singh and various content creators from YouTube and Instagram.
The first reactions from the fans was, disappointing, if we were to put it kindly.
The song is placed in a train called the One Day Express, and has Ranveer Singh dancing to Bollywood like tunes of Dil Jashn Jashn bole. While previous anthems, be it for ‘Stand By’ in 2019, ‘Greatness theme’ in 2015 and ‘De Ghuma Ke’ in 2011, had all elements of real life cricket being played on streets, in their respective official videos, the 2023 version just has a choreographed moves, depicting batting, bowling and fielding.
Both the video and the song, lack that rustic touch that was given by previous versions.
Fans too are hugely disappointed with the release and have heavily criticised ICC for the same.
“What a letdown by Pritam. Like seriously, this looks more like a lackadaisical attempt to make the track sound groovy but infact it’s not. And what is this unnecessary obsession of adding rap to everything!,” said a fan on twitter
“this is not giving World Cup vibes. This sounds more like a Bollywood song,” said another
Many fans even recalled 2011 anthem, De Ghuma Ke by Shankar Mahadevan.
The music for the 2023 anthem is given by Pritam, while the vocals are by multiple singers; Pritam, Nakash Aziz, Sreerama Chandra, Amit Mishra and Jonita.
