Lana Del Rey has officially announced her next studio album, The Right Person Will Stay, slated for release on 21 May, 2025. The record will feature 13 tracks, produced by long-time collaborators Jack Antonoff and Zachary Dawes, as well as Luke Laird and Drew Erickson, who bring a distinct country and Americana influence to the project.
In her Instagram post unveiling the news, Del Rey shared her gratitude for the creative journey:
“So grateful that my 13 tracks came together with my beautiful work between Luke, Jack, Zach and Drew Erickson amongst others. Happy for you to hear a few songs coming up before Stagecoach. Starting with Henry. Love always.”
The reference to “Henry” likely points to the dreamy, guitar-led song “Henry, Come On,” which she previewed earlier this year. Fans won’t have to wait long for a taste of the album, as Del Rey teased upcoming singles leading into her Stagecoach festival performance in April.
Earlier this year, Del Rey hinted at releasing a country-inspired album titled Lasso, but it seems The Right Person Will Stay will instead incorporate elements of country and Americana without straying too far from her established sound.
“All my albums are somewhat rooted in Americana, unless it’s an album like Honeymoon, which has a jazz flair,” Del Rey told Vogue in August. “So I don’t think it will be a heavy departure.”
The change in direction hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans. On X (formerly Twitter), reactions were mixed, with one user lamenting:
“Goodbye Lasso, you won’t be forgotten.”
Others, however, dissected the album’s aesthetic:
“The Picsart cover!!!” one user commented
“It lowkey just gives old-school novel cover vibes, which is probably what she was going for.” Replied another
The Right Person Will Stay follows Del Rey’s 2023 album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, which reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Del Rey has been a defining voice in pop music, delivering hits like 2013’s Summertime Sadness and her 2022 feature on Taylor Swift’s Snow on the Beach.
Adding to her eventful year, Del Rey will embark on a UK and Ireland stadium tour in summer 2025. The tour begins on 23 June at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in Wales and concludes at London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on 3 July. Stops in Glasgow, Liverpool, and Dublin are also included. Before heading overseas, Del Rey is set to perform at the Stagecoach Festival in California this April.
