Actress Mouni Roy has officially begun shooting for her upcoming mystery thriller The Wives, helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Taking to social media, the Brahmāstra star expressed her excitement as she stepped into the new project.
Sharing a photograph of herself with the acclaimed director, both holding clapboards on set, Mouni wrote: “Day 1 on this new film I’m truly excited about, grateful to be creating with the maestro himself @imbhandarkar. Thrilled for the journey ahead #TheWives @pranavjain27.”
Her close friend and fellow actress Disha Patani reacted warmly to the post, commenting, “Congratulations my mon kill it.”
The film’s mahurat shot took place on 8 July, with Madhur Bhandarkar also sharing glimpses from the set on Instagram. Speaking about the project, the Fashion director revealed that The Wives is an original story set in the captivating world of glamour—an environment he has been exploring over the past four years.
“Today marks the start of my 16th film, #TheWives, an original story set in the captivating world of glamour that I’ve explored over the last four years. Finally bringing this concept-driven project to life is a dream come true. Your blessings and support are invaluable as we embark on this journey,” Bhandarkar wrote.

In addition to Mouni Roy, the ensemble cast of The Wives features Sonali Kulkarni, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruvala. The film marks Bhandarkar’s second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain of P J Motion Pictures following the success of India Lockdown.
The Wives is jointly produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and P J Motion Pictures, with the makers promising a gripping tale set against the backdrop of glitz and glamour.
