Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is set to take on a new challenge, with reports confirming she is in final negotiations to portray Olympic gymnast Kerri Strug in Netflix’s forthcoming film Perfect.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project will be directed by Gia Coppola and will chronicle the journey of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. Known as the “Magnificent Seven,” the team secured its first-ever gold medal in the team competition. Strug became a global icon after completing a decisive vault despite an ankle injury, before being carried to the podium by her coach Béla Károlyi – a defining image in Olympic history.
In addition to her leading role, Brown is expected to serve as a producer on the film. The screenplay is written by Ronnie Sandahl, with Nik Bower of Riverstone Pictures and Thomas Benski of Magna Studios attached as producers. Netflix plans to begin production in 2026.
Meanwhile, Brown’s fans are preparing for the final season of her hit series Stranger Things, which will debut in two months’ time. The concluding season will be released in three parts, scheduled around holiday weekends: Volume 1 on 26 November (four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas Day (three episodes), and The Finale on New Year’s Eve.
Created by The Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things is produced by Upside Down Pictures and 21 Laps Entertainment, with executive producers including Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.
