Terror in Pakistan continues to increase as people pray and hope for better days to come. With political turmoil rendering unrest among the people of Pakistan, one might wonder what kind of upheaval may uncover in future.
Recently, prominent lawyer and civil rights activist, Jibran Nasir was allegedly abducted while returning home from a night out with his wife. The couple’s car was seized in the dead of night on Thursday 1 June.
His wife, renowned Pakistani actress, Mansha Pasha, took to social media to announce the unjust kidnapping. In a now deleted video, she explained details of abduction and pleaded his safe return. “Please raise your voices against this injustice and pray for the safe return of my husband”, she implored.
According to the video, the couple’s car was intercepted by an unknown white car consisting of 15 men, who forcibly dragged her husband along. Sources say that an FIR wasn’t registered until hours after Mansha’s pleas.

Jibran had been an active member of parliament and an independent candidate during the 2018 general elections. He had also been vocal about the recent political mayhem in the country. His endless sacrifices to address sectarian violence earned him a place on Foreign Policy Magazine’s 2013 list of three inspirational Pakistanis working against such conflicts.
Many political figures have voiced their concerns for the advocate’s kidnap, and many continue to show sympathy for his wife. Prime Minister’s Strategic Reforms Salman Sufi also tweeted his support.
“Very disturbing to hear about [Jibran Nasir] abduction. Hope Sindh police will assist his family and locate him immediately. Jibran has always spoken against violent extremism and rioting. Hoping for his safe and immediate return,” he wrote
People all over social media have been actively demanding justice for Jibran and frequently using the hashtag #ReleaseJibranNasir.
The reason for the mysterious abduction remains unknown but Mansha’s deleted video might raise some speculations. What could’ve made her delete the video?
Recently, prominent journalist Sami Abraham was also declared missing by his family. Arrest of media personnels in Pakistan have been increasing as well. Many public figures especially journalists are seemingly under threat given the situation, even more so if they dare speak up.
In the meantime, messages of support and comfort continue to flood in for Mansha as the search for her husband Jibran Nasir continues.
