Rajkummar Rao is stuck in the worst kind of wedding nightmare not cold feet, not a runaway bride, but a time loop. The teaser for Bhool Chuk Maaf, Maddock Films’ latest quirky offering, has dropped, and while some fans are intrigued, others are convinced they’ve seen this before specifically in Groundhog Day.

The teaser kicks off with Rajkummar’s character gearing up for his big day with Wamiqa Gabbi, but things take a bizarre turn when his Haldi ceremony keeps repeating itself. No matter what he does, he wakes up to the same day over and over again. Wedding jitters? Maybe. Bollywood’s take on the time-loop genre? Absolutely.

Sharing the teaser, Maddock Films wrote, “Din hai untees ya tees? Fark hai bas unnees-bees! Par yeh hai kya masla? Jaaniye 10 April ko in cinemas, tab tak Bhool Chuk Maaf ho!” (Is it the 29th or the 30th? Just a minor difference, right? But what’s the real issue? Find out on 10 April in cinemas!)

While some fans are hyped for Maddock Films’ latest experiment, others think the premise is a little too familiar.

“Looks inspired by Groundhog Day,” one fan commented. Another added, “50 First Dates Adam Sandler jaisa kyun lag raha hai?” (Why does it feel like 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler?)

Not everyone is on board, though. Some viewers are concerned about Rajkummar Rao playing yet another middle-class small-town guy: “Sad to see Rajkummar being typecast in the same roles. He needs to break out of this zone.”

Despite the comparisons, there’s still hope that Bhool Chuk Maaf will bring something fresh to the table. Directed by Karan Sharma, the film marks the first collaboration between Rajkummar and Wamiqa and is set for release on 10 April. With Sky Force and Chhaava already making waves this year, Maddock Films is hoping to continue its winning streak.

Meanwhile, Rajkummar’s 2025 lineup is stacked, with films like Maalik and Netflix’s Toaster on the way. Wamiqa Gabbi, last seen in Baby John alongside Varun Dhawan, is also gearing up for an exciting year ahead.

Will Bhool Chuk Maaf be a fresh twist on the time-loop trope, or will it just feel like déjà vu? We’ll find out soon enough!
