Sohum Shah has done it again-or rather, nobody really knows what he’s done. The trailer for his upcoming film Crazxy has left audiences baffled, intrigued, and scrambling for explanations. While the Tumbbad actor’s character appears to be on a frantic mission to save his kidnapped daughter, the mind-bending twists, time-warping confusion, and even a cameo from It’s Pennywise suggest that this isn’t your typical thriller.

The trailer follows Shah’s character as he embarks on a desperate search for his daughter. But just when you think he’s getting somewhere, the narrative takes a wild turn-one moment she’s safe, the next she’s missing again. Injuries seem to vanish and reappear, people give conflicting updates, and the cherry on top? Shah casually drops, “5 crore ka loan milega kya?” (Can I get a ₹5 crore loan?)-a line that has sparked endless speculation. Is it a metaphor? A commentary on the price of survival? Or is this just the Christopher Nolan-ification of Bollywood?

The trailer’s mind-bending chaos has left audiences both excited and bewildered. Some are already hailing Crazxy as a game-changer for Indian cinema, drawing comparisons to Hollywood’s best.

One fan declared, “The man has decided to scale Indian Cinema to International Level.”

Another added, “We need to support such movies. Otherwise, like Tumbbad, we’ll only discover them on OTT and regret not seeing them in theatres. If people like Sohum Shah don’t get the backing they deserve, we’ll lose great storytellers.”

With Tumbbad gaining cult status after its re-release last year, it’s no surprise that Crazxy is being held to the same high standard. But Shah has made it clear—this isn’t Tumbbad 2.

“I want to say one thing-this is not Tumbbad,” Shah stated at the trailer launch. “That was a period film spanning three generations. Crazxy unfolds in just one day. The only similarity is that, like Tumbbad, it offers something completely new.”

Shah, who has already confirmed Tumbbad 2 is in the works, insists he isn’t chasing formulas or trends.

“I have only one parameter: if the people around me like the film, we’ll make it. I don’t want to make routine films. I want to give audiences something they’ve never seen before,” he added.

Scheduled for a 28 February release, whether Crazxy will match Tumbbad’s legacy remains to be seen, but one thing is certain-the film has already sparked conversations. Is it a masterpiece in the making, or will we be unravelling its mysteries for years to come? Either way, Crazxy is definitely living up to its name.
