The Mumbai Police in India has decided to upgrade superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s security, after reportedly receiving intelligence that the actor has been receiving death threats after he delivered back to back blockbusters in Pathaan and Jawan.
Under the ‘Y+ security’ cover which has been allotted to the actor, Mr Khan will be accompanied by six armed security personnel round the clock. Earlier, the popular actor was accompanied by two security personnel.
As per reports, the actor will ensure comprehensive protection throughout India, including the provision of Glock handguns, AK-47 assault rifles, and MP-5 machine guns for security personnel. Additionally, there will be a team of four armed police officers providing 24/7 security for the actor’s residence, all of which will be financed by the actor.
Further reports state that, on 5 October , the Maharashtra state home department issued a letter to senior police officers and departments, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), stating: “In view of the recent imminent and probable threat to actor Shah Rukh Khan,
all unit commanders are requested to provide Y + with an escort scale of security on payment basis with immediate effect, till next high level committee recommendation and
review committee decision, during his visit/engagements and stay in your jurisdiction to avoid any untoward incident.”
Apart from Shah Rukh, Salman Khan was previously given additional security cover, after a wanted gangster issued an open threat against the actor.
Shah Rukh Khan has enjoyed a highly successful year, with both Pathan and Jawan, breaking box office records. He is working for his third film in the year, Dunki, which has a scheduled release in December.
