Sonu Sood has come under fire from social media users today after the actor encouraged his fans to help someone today rather than ‘forwarding Lord Shiva’s photos on Maha Shivaratri.
The actor took to Twitter today (March 11) to encourage fans to help others today in honour of the day. The actor stated, “Rather than forwarding Lord Shiva’s images, celebrate Maha Shivaratri by helping someone in need. Om Namah Shivaay.”
शिव भगवान की फोटो फॉरवर्ड करके नहीं किसी की मदद करके महाशिवरात्रि मनाएं।

Sood is well known for his philanthropic work, especially over the past twelve months since the pandemic began, so the actor more than likely intended to inspire others to do good.
However, many Twitter users found Sood’s comment presumptuous. Many accused him of disregarding the importance of the day to people of faith by trying to suggest people should not share images of Lord Shiva. The hastag #WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood began trending.
One user tweeted, “We all know how to celebrate our festival don’t tell us Always there is problem in hindus festival but celebrate all other religion festivals without any problem. Why why why why #WhoTheHellAreUSonuSood.”
