Actor Sonu Sood has spoken out after a Ludhiana court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him in connection to a fraud case. The warrant was issued by Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur, directing the officer-in-charge of Mumbai’s Oshiwara Police Station to arrest Sood and present him before the court.
On Friday morning, Sonu took to X (formerly Twitter) to clarify his stance, stating that he was only summoned as a witness in the case and has no direct involvement. He condemned the media for sensationalising the situation and vowed to take legal action.
His statement read:“We need to clarify that the news circulating on social media platforms is highly sensationalised. To put matters straight, we were summoned as a witness by the Honourable Court in a matter pertaining to a third party to which we have no association or affiliation. Our lawyers have responded, and on 10 February 2025, we will give a statement that clarifies our non-involvement in the matter.”
He concluded by criticising the unnecessary media attention surrounding the case: “We are neither brand ambassadors nor are we associated in any way. This is just for unnecessary media attention to grab eyeballs. It is sad that celebs become soft targets. We will take strict action in this matter.”
The court order states that Sonu Sood had previously been served summons, but failed to appear. The next hearing is scheduled for 10 February.
