Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif’s relationship was one of Bollywood’s best-kept secrets until they tied the knot in a grand wedding in 2021. The couple kept their romance private for a long time, sparking curiosity among fans eager to know more about their love story. While they weren’t the first celebrity couple to maintain such privacy, it wasn’t until after their wedding that Karan Johar revealed the pair had first met ‘properly’ at a party hosted by Zoya Akhtar.
Now, Vicky has shared the details of their first official meeting. It was in 2019, during an award show where Vicky was co-hosting with Kartik Aaryan. He recalled dancing on stage with Katrina to her hit songs, marking the first time they interacted.
Speaking to Pinkvilla, Vicky said, “So, I was hosting, and I think this was the first time we met and interacted. On stage, of course, there’s always someone guiding you with the earpiece, telling you what to do, and it’s all scripted. But backstage was when we were formally introduced to each other. Yeah, so… who knew!”
When asked if he felt nervous, Vicky smiled and replied, “No, no. Nervous? What’s there to be nervous about? But she was extremely sweet. I didn’t know she would know me, but she was very sweet.”
After their performance, Katrina surprised Vicky by asking him to say his famous dialogue from Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019), which left him blushing when she responded with “High, sir” to his iconic “How’s the josh?” The rest, as they say, is history!
On the work front, Vicky is currently promoting his upcoming film Chhaava, which co-stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna. The Laxman Utekar directorial is set for release on Valentine’s Day, 14 February.
