As megastar of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan celebrates his 81st birthday, the makers of his upcoming, multi-lingual film, Kalki 2898 AD have revealed his first look from the movie.
The first look poster of Bachchan teases his character to be a sage, standing upright in what looks like a cave– with sunshine falling right on top of him. The megastar is seen sporting a heavily bearded look, with only his eyes visible in the poster.
The multi-lingual sci-fi film, which was earlier called Project K, has been directed by Nag Ashwin. The film also stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles.
Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, the film, due to release in 2024, also stars Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The sci-fi story is directed by C Aswani Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies.
In Hindu mythology, it is foretold that Kalki will be the ultimate manifestation of Lord Vishnu, a divine incarnation yet to manifest. When the current era, known as Kalyug or Kali Yuga, reaches its culmination, marked by the complete erosion of righteousness (dharma) and the dominance of oppressors over the world, Kalki will descend to the mortal realm. His purpose will be to terminate oppression and inaugurate a new era.
