Meghan Markle’s Netflix show With Love, Meghan rescheduled amid LA wildfires

0

Netflix has confirmed that the premiere date for With Love, Meghan, originally set for 15 January, has been postponed at the Duchess of Sussex’s request. The decision comes out of sensitivity to those affected by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.

“I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” Markle said in a statement.

The series will now debut on 4 March.

Described as “a heartfelt tribute to the beauty of Southern California,” With Love, Meghan blends practical lifestyle tips with candid conversations featuring friends, both new and old. Markle shares personal advice on cooking, gardening, and other topics while hosting special guests such as chef Roy Choi, actress Mindy Kaling, and culinary icon Alice Waters.

Netflix has ordered eight episodes of the series, which was filmed in Montecito, California—about 80 miles north of Los Angeles—where Markle resides with her husband, Prince Harry.

In response to the wildfires, the couple have reportedly opened their home to friends forced to evacuate and donated clothing and essential items to those in need.

The series is part of a five-year partnership between Netflix and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, inked in 2020.

Ricki Lake reveals psychic’s wildfire prediction on Netflix show

0

Actress Ricki Lake, 56, has shared a startling revelation that a psychic foresaw the devastating Los Angeles wildfires during a Netflix show appearance just months before the disaster. Lake, who tragically lost her family home in Malibu to the fires, described the property as her “heaven on earth.”

Writing about the loss, she said, “Ross and I lost our dream home. This description ‘dream home’ doesn’t suffice. It was our heaven on earth, the place where we planned to grow old together.” She added, “We never took our heavenly spot on the bluff overlooking our beloved Malibu for granted, not even for one second.”

Lake revealed that during an 15 October, 2024, appearance on Live from the Other Side with Tyler Henry, the psychic made an unsettling prediction. Henry told the couple, “We’re gonna end up finding there’s a story where there was a house fire or something along those lines — a fire risk.” He added cryptically, “There’s something about watching water seepage into places it shouldn’t and damaging things.”

The wildfires, which ignited on 7 January, have forced over 100,000 residents to evacuate and have claimed at least 24 lives. Authorities have confirmed that fierce winds, which initially fuelled the flames, are expected to return this week, further exacerbating the crisis.

Lake expressed her grief for all those affected by the catastrophe, writing, “I grieve along with all of those suffering during this apocalyptic event.”

In a grim twist, the Los Angeles Police Department last week arrested a man on suspicion of arson after he was allegedly seen attempting to start a fire. The incident is currently under investigation.

As the fires continue to wreak havoc, Lake’s story highlights the unexpected and eerie foresight shared during her experience with Tyler Henry.

Aubrey Plaza’s Instagram account has been deactivated following the tragic death of her husband, filmmaker Jeff Baena. As of Sunday, her profile displays an error message reading, “Sorry, this page isn’t available.”

Though it remains unclear when Plaza decided to remove her account, the move comes shortly after Baena’s death by suicide. In a joint statement released last Monday, Plaza and Baena’s family described the loss as an “unimaginable tragedy,” adding, “We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”

Baena’s passing and Legacy

Baena, 47, was found unresponsive at his Los Angeles home on 3 January and later pronounced dead. The couple, who did not have children, had secretly tied the knot in 2020 after a decade-long relationship, publicly revealing their marriage in May 2021.

Their partnership extended beyond their personal lives into professional collaborations on films such as Spin Me Round, Life After Beth, and The Little Hours. Baena also co-wrote the film Horse Girl alongside Alison Brie, drawing from their shared experiences with mental health struggles within their families.

Ahead of the film’s 2020 release, Baena spoke openly on Reddit about his stepmother’s battles with manic depression and her repeated admissions to mental health facilities. Responding to questions about the film’s themes, Baena clarified that while Horse Girl was not intended as an activist piece, it explored societal and personal perceptions of mental illness and treatment.

Plaza, best known for her role in Parks and Recreation, has requested privacy during this period as she and Baena’s loved ones process their loss.

“I never thought I would live to see a day where fires would ravage neighbourhoods around us in LA,” she wrote. “Friends & families either evacuated or put on high alert, ash descending from smoggy skies like snow & fear & uncertainty about what will happen if the wind does not calm down with toddlers and grandparents with us. I’m heartbroken at the devastation around us and grateful to God that we are safe as of now.”

Celebrities voice support

Preity’s message echoes sentiments shared by Priyanka Chopra, who took to Instagram Stories to acknowledge the bravery of first responders battling the crisis. Thank you for working tirelessly overnight and continuing to help families affected.”

The massive blaze, which erupted on 7 January 2025, has forced over 30,000 residents to evacuate their homes. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency in Los Angeles as fire crews continue their relentless efforts to contain the inferno.

The wildfires have destroyed thousands of acres of land, causing widespread damage and leaving many uncertain about the safety of their homes. Emergency services remain on high alert as weather conditions persist, fuelling fears of further destruction.
