After months of speculation, Ranbir Kapoor has officially confirmed that Ayan Mukerji’s epic fantasy sequel, Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev, is on the way. During a recent media meet-and-greet, the actor assured fans that the highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2022 blockbuster is very much in the pipeline, just not right away.
Ranbir revealed that director Ayan Mukerji is currently immersed in War 2, the high-octane actioner starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani. Once that wraps, the filmmaker will shift focus to the Astraverse once again.
“Brahmastra 2 is something that Ayan has been nurturing as a dream for a very long time,” Ranbir shared. “He is working on War 2 right now, but as soon as that is out, he’ll dive into the pre-production for Brahmastra 2. It’s definitely happening. Some exciting announcements will be made soon.”
Ayan Mukerji previously announced that Brahmastra: Part Two – Dev is slated for a December 2026 release, with the third and final instalment expected to follow in 2027.
Released in September 2022, Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva was a visual spectacle that combined mythology with modern storytelling. It not only marked Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s first on-screen pairing but also sparked their real-life romance—leading to their marriage and the birth of their daughter, Raha Kapoor.
The film featured an ensemble cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy, and a memorable cameo by Shah Rukh Khan, raking in an impressive ₹400 crore (approximately £38 million) worldwide.
Fans reaction to Ranbir’s big reveal:
“It was always obvious—Ayan would return to Brahmastra after War 2. Filming by late 2025 sounds likely!”
“Whenever it comes out, it’s a guaranteed blockbuster 70 crore+ opening is a given with this craze!”
“Brahmastra 2 in 2025? Let’s not!”
Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is riding high on the success of Animal, while Alia Bhatt was last seen in Vasan Bala’s Jigra, alongside newcomer Vedang Raina.
With the Astraverse expanding and major announcements on the horizon, it looks like fans of Brahmastra are in for a thrilling ride-and Ranbir Kapoor is ready to lead the charge once again.
